Why In Person Relationships Matter

Here is a Preview from our latest Newsletter, and a taste of why human contact matters to ALL of us:

When I was young, I was raised for a time by my grandparents. During that time I was so well loved that there was never even a hint of darkness or depression. It was unbounded happiness, bright eyes, constant eye contact, and connection. Granddad would get up at 5 AM once a month to go ocean fishing off the Southern California coast. I was just his fishing buddy, first grandchild, and I loved the love. I loved waking up as a very special boy. I loved the walk on the old wooden pier to its end where we boarded the boat with 30 other fisherman. I remember the smell of the salt air, the sound of seagulls and fisherman talking. I would sit at the bow and watch the white water as the sharp captain shredded forward.
Once granddad caught a 248 pound black Seabass, we also caught halibut, yellowtail, barracuda, a mackerel — yellowtail was considered the best. There’s a great difference between my grandfather‘s generation and my father ’s. I can tell you the key difference: the silent generation wanted to set up their children and grandchildren, baby boomers, and often the generations after wanted every
man for himself. It became survival of the fittest in the materialistic world. when I say this, I don’t mean that my parents were somehow mean or super selfish, they just wouldn’t invest in great new life. Instead, the focused on building their material wealth and felt
they themselves only deserved what was owned by them. There was no community
sharing. This lack of sharing is how we have become so divided today.
